One thing that really gets me going is when people blame God for the enemies’ works. If God is so destructive, why would you want to serve him? Earthquakes, tsunami’s, tornadoes, hurricanes and sickness and pain are works of the devil. Want proof? Let’s look at the Bible. Jesus said himself. John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. Here Jesus makes a clear definition between He and the enemy. The enemy is the one that comes to steal, kill and destroy. Not God. Jesus continues on to say that He (Jesus) came to give us life and abundant life. That He is the good shepherd that will give His life for us. Now you might say, “Well God allowed it.” Are you sure? Let’s look at the Bible again. 1John 5:19 We know that we belong to God even though the whole world is under the rule of the Evil One. Wow, the whole world is under the rule of the evil one? Yes, he is the one that steals, kills and destroys. That is what the evil one does. God sent his son (Jesus) to save us from this destruction. Ephesians 6:12 say’s “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Battling the evil one is what we do. When we asked Jesus into our lives as savior and Lord and we become a part of the Kingdom of God, something wonderful happened. Look at this scripture in Romans. Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. We are no longer a part of this world in which the evil one rules. We a part of another world, The Kingdom of God. Jesus said in John 8 that His kingdom is not of this world. We have to transform our old mindsets about old covenant thinking and attach ourselves to the new covenant thinking of grace. Look here. John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. The law (Old Covenant) was given by Moses. But grace and truth (New Covenant) came by Jesus Christ. Read Hebrews 8:13 By speaking of a new covenant, God has made the first one old; and anything that becomes old and worn out will soon disappear. Under the Old (Law) Covenant: God had to relate to sinful people as a Holy Righteous God would/had to. Do bad get cursed, do good get blessed. Under the New (Grace) Covenant: God relates to sinful people through Jesus, reconciling them to Himself and no longer relating to them through the Law since Jesus fulfilled the requirements of the law on the behalf of people. Jesus fulfilled the law for us. So we can live free. John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. Please read Matthew chapter 24. Jesus is answering the question, “what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” You will see all of this destruction and pain. But, Jesus never say’s that this destruction is from God or any heavenly authority. Remember Jesus said that, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Remember Gods heart and do not confuse His love with pain or destruction. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. He does not beat you up and kill you to just make a point. But the evil one will want you to believe that. Which voice will you listen to? The voice of destruction and blame or of healing and love? You have a choice. Pastor Sid Cooper 2Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: |
